HarCo Alert 11/1718 - Francine Upgraded to Category 2 Hurricane

A Tropical Storm Warning, a Storm Surge Warning, Tornado Watch, and a Flood Watch are now in effect for Harrison County, to include the cities of Biloxi, D’Iberville, Gulfport, Long Beach, and Pass Christian.
Additionally, Flood Warnings have been issued for local rivers to rise above flood stage Wednesday night (Biloxi River), Thursday mid-day (Tchoutacabouffa River), and Friday afternoon (Wolf River).
At 4 PM, the center of Hurricane Francine was located about 40 miles south-southwest of Morgan City, Louisiana, with tropical storm force winds extending outward 140 miles. Francine’s maximum sustained winds are 100 mph, and present movement is northeast at 17 mph.

Because of Francine’s approach tonight, all interests in Harrison County are encouraged to be ready for rainfall up to 6 inches, storm surge up to 6 feet, winds 25 to 55 miles per hour, and possible tornadoes.
